Grade 4 Science: Evaporation of Water in Different Weather Conditions
Evaporation of Water in Different Weather Conditions
Correct Responses
- Gives an explanation based on there being more moisture in the air (humidity) on Day 1.
- Examples:
- It was too humid on Day 1.
- Clothes don’t dry as well when there is lots of water in the air.
- There was too much moisture for the water in the clothes to evaporate very fast.
- Gives an explanation based on it being warmer (heat/higher temperature) on Day 2.
- Examples:
- When it’s hot the clothes would dry quicker. When it’s raining it wasn't hot.
- Because the heat on day 2 was hot so it helped it dry quicker.
- On day 1 there wasn’t enough heat to help dry the clothes.
- The sun provides heat to evaporate the water from the clothes.
Incorrect Responses
- Gives an explanation based only on the Sun shining on Day 2 or the rain on Day 1.
- Examples:
- Because of the sun. It makes the clothes dry.
- Because the sun is not shining.
- On day 1 it is raining so the clothes get a bit damp.
- Because on day 1 it was raining and on day 2 it was sunny.
- Because it rained for 24 hours.
- It took longer on day 1 because it rained and the clothes held the water inside.
- Even though there was the hut it was raining so it would be a little wet.
