These files were also saved in the CD in a format readable only with Notepad for Windows NT 4.0 (UNICODE). After renaming them they were saved as ASCII files.

The Student background almanac for Population 2 (7th and 8th graders) has been updated (BSGALM.LIS). The number of cases for the United States is not correct in the almanac file included in the CD. The correct number of cases in the Population 2 for the United States is 3886 at the lower grade and 7087 at the upper grade. This is reflected in the files available from this Web site.
January 23, 1998
The student background and student achievement data for the Phillipines (BSGPHL1.DAT and BSAPHL1.DAT) was updated. Six cases with INTIMSS=0 and scores of 999 (the missing value) were deleted.
