Broadcasting live from Boston College in March, the TIMSS & PIRLS International Study Center participated in the latest Research on International Studies in Education (RISE) Webinar Series by the American Institutes for Research (AIR), exploring the international results from PIRLS and ePIRLS 2016. The webinar explored the reading achievement of fourth grade students in the 50 countries and 11 benchmarking entities that participated across the globe, and examined some United States results and  trends in particular. The presentation also featured the results of ePIRLS, an innovative digital assessment of online reading comprehension that debuted in 2016. ePIRLS monitors how well fourth grade students read, interpret, and critique online information in an environment that looks and feels like the Internet.

Michael O. Martin and Ina V.S. Mullis (above), Executive Directors of the TIMSS & PIRLS International Study Center and Lynch School of Education Professors, served as presenters. Sheila Thompson of the National Center for Education Statistics moderated the webinar, with Josalyn T. McGhee, Instructional Facilitator at the Kate Bond Elementary School, as teacher discussant.
