Environmental Awareness in TIMSS 2023: Patterns in Achievement, Attitudes, Behaviors, and Contexts uses data from the TIMSS 2023 achievement test and context questionnaires to measure what students know about the environment and to capture their beliefs and actions related to environmental issues. The report explores relationships between environmental knowledge and contextual variables of interest, as well as patterns in environmental attitudes and behaviors. The report also includes analyses of data collected from parents, teachers, and principals related to environmental topics.

The TIMSS Insights series provides a closer look at specific educational research topics using TIMSS data. Future publications will be released on a rolling basis. Additionally, reports in the PIRLS Insights series, using PIRLS 2021 data to explore the potential correlates with reading achievement, are available at pirls2021.org/insights.
