Mario produces TIMSS and PIRLS test materials — including item development and illustrations, animations, PSI storyboards, graphics, booklets, and instructional videos, in addition to providing direct support to National Centers regarding the production of test materials — and study center publications, including layout design of exhibits and custom artwork for report covers.

Before joining the TIMSS & PIRLS International Study Center in 2000, he worked as a Graphics Specialist for several biotech companies in Massachusetts. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Florida International University.
