Dr. Charlotte Aldrich
Assistant Research Director, TIMSS Mathematics and Special Projects
Dr. Charlotte Aldrich is responsible for the content development of the TIMSS Mathematics assessment for fourth and eighth grade, the regular update of the mathematics frameworks, the coordination of item development and expert reviews, and the utilization of digital assessment technology to create the next generation of mathematics assessments.
Dr. Aldrich completed her PhD in Measurement, Evaluation, Statistics, and Assessment at the Boston College Lynch School of Education and Human Development and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and French Language and Literature from Colgate University. Her research interests include problem-solving and engagement in learning mathematics, and her doctoral work focused on advancing multidimensional, robust models for school climate using TIMSS data. She joined the TIMSS & PIRLS International Study Center in 2017 initially as a Graduate Research Assistant at the conclusion of PIRLS 2016. Prior to working at Boston College, Charlotte worked in English as a Second Language (ESL) programs and schools as both a teacher and an administrator. After teaching at elementary schools in France, she continued teaching and coordinating ESL programs across Boston.
